BPMG International Recording Artist, GroovProject Releases New CD
Kingston's own, Donovan Henderson, founder and creator of the fusion jazz band called GroovProject, releases their 3rd album. The title of the CD is entitled "Electric Vibes" which was produced and engineered by Donovan Henderson. Atlanta, GA and Kingston, NY - November 18, 2009 -- Mariners Harbor is happy to host its first ever industry event and album release party for BPMG Recording Artist, GroovProject on November 28, 2009 at 9pm. The fusion jazz project has just released their 3rd independent CD, entitled "Electric Vibes" which was produced and engineered by Donovan Henderson. Donovan, born and raised in Kingston, NY, created the project back in 2006. Currently, he resides in Atlanta, GA where he runs his own recording label which was recently signed to a five year distribution deal with KVZ Music out of Austria. The GroovProject is Donovan Henderson (drums), Marc Clay (rhodes), Memphis Williams (bass), Kevin Tanner (percussion and horns), Marvin Terrell (piano), Will Richardson and Neil Pethel (guitars). They are joined on two tracks by special guest, Reyes Torres, III on guitars and Dawn McClain is featured on vocals on the song, "This Ain't Love". Also, Lou Valle and Melvin Byrd (The Great Donald Byrd's nephew) were featured on horns on the song, "Natural High". The CD also includes Isaac West from the Sonny Emory Band, on bass on songs, "Electric Vibes", and "Downloads, Uploads". The CD "Electric Vibes" is a follow up to the GP's second album from 2007 called "The Life, The Loss, The Love". The new CD documents the growth the band has gone through during the past two years and illustrates the cohesive, passionate playing with oozing cinergy throughout the entire project. All songs are originals written by Donovan Henderson and a group of talented writers, Marc Clay, Memphis Williams and Dawn McClain. The addition of Torres on songs, "Downloads, Uploads" and "What It Is", adds fire and depth to the band and he fits perfectly with the exploratory nature of the project. The CD Release party at Mariners Harbor will feature songs from the new CD as well as songs from their debut album, "Soul Jazzations" and their second album, "The Life, The Loss, The Love". All releases were produced and engineered by Donovan Henderson at the Sirama Sound Lab in Atlanta, GA. All CD's will be available at the party for a suggested donation of $10. support, really? c'mon son!
sometimes i feel like there is no support for independent artists who may be just as talented or more talented than those that sign big record deals. i mean, some things have changed but i still feel like independent artists don't get the recognition they deserve.
now, with that being said, i get a cold feeling at times about the support of my newly released cd. its kind of expected that many people that don't even know me won't support what i do, to a certain extent. however, for those that do know me, especially family members, to not support what i do, i find that very disheartening. to be honest, i don't feel the support from family and this is not the first time. i guess i just feel like its time to express my thoughts about the situation since its so close to me - my music. i really make a serious effort to deliver good sounding music that makes a difference. my experiences run very deep and i try to express that through my music with every inch of my creative body. its really sad to me. really, it is.... i'll finish this later, cuz i have a lot more to say, believe me. good morning people...
well, well, well....another day, another dollar!
i wonder what God has in store for us today? i'm still working on booking some shows so that we can promote the new cd. there is so much involved in running a band and recording music. sometimes i wish that i didn't have such a passion for music, not, lol! show ideas
i'm planning a few things right now but one of the most important details are creating a live show that keeps the crowd captivated and wanting more. thats a tough task to do when it comes to certain types of jazz music. i'm planning on putting a show together that includes good visual as well as strategically placed songs during the show.
let the research begin... comments
hey everyone,
i am trying something new here...writing a blog. i became hip to writing blogs a few years ago and i got hooked quickly. its like an online journal tracking thoughts, ideas, perspectives, etc. i will attempt to write a blog everyday and keep in touch with my fans. i intend to write what's on my mind and not hold back whatsoever, but i will keep it clean though. so, if you feel moved at all to write something back, please do so and just remember that i will read every post and if any posts turns out to be degrading or negative, i will remove it, believe that. stay tuned.... |
